"WinEx DE" is a professional-grade Excavation software product that works with both paper plans and PDF files on-screen for cut & fill take-offs.
WinEx DE helps you calculate earthwork cut & fill volumes with great speed, accuracy, and ease -- giving you "peace of mind" when bidding earthwork quantities. Simply use your PC mouse to trace off your PC screen all the existing and proposed topo line elevations, spot elevations, and undisturbed areas, and WinEx DE will instantly provide you with accurate earthwork quantities -- cut & fill volumes, export / import volumes, and separate calculations for sub-grade and material quantities for building pads, parking lots, and roads. WinEx DE also gives you a color 3-D terrain model of the existing and proposed sites, along with automatic site balancing. WinEx DE is also an ideal solution for excavation and general contractors who need fast, accurate earthwork quantity surveys.

Using only your PC mouse, WinEx DE allows you to trace in topography / contours, enter spot elevations, and define undisturbed areas within the site. WinEx DE also lets you trace in an unlimited number of work regions on the site -- parking lots, roads, building pads -- each with sub-grade depths, to quickly give you accurate calculations for cut / fill volumes, concrete, asphalt, stone, etc. in each work region.

WinEx DE generates color coded cut & fill maps that show you where the deep areas of cuts & fills occur, also cross-sections between any two points on the site, and detailed 3-dimensional displays of any surface (and also a cut/fill display in 3-D). WinEx DE features a slick site balancing routine that lets you quickly adjust either the entire site or any portion of the site to minimize import/export. WinEx DE runs on most digitizers and can directly paste answers into any Windows estimating program or spreadsheet, such as Excel.
